Gord Downie Anniversary Hat Auction
For many years, I have declined requests to recreate some of the hats most closely associated with Gord Downie.
Those pieces were never simply hats for me. They were deeply personal projects, created in a specific moment, for a specific person, and tied to memories I have always held close.
In honour of the anniversary of the final show i I felt it was the right time to create a faithful, recreation of the original hat I designed and made for Gord, that could support a cause close to Gord’s heart.
This is not something I undertook lightly.
The process brought back memories of the original build- the materials, the special embellishment details, the imperfections, and the story behind them.
It was a reminder of why the hat resonated with so many people in the first place.
I’m honoured to share this recreation, crafted with the same care, respect, and spirit that inspired the original
More than a hat, it is a tribute to a remarkable artist, and a meaningful chapter in my own creative journey.
